About Odin

Odin (also known or referred to as the 'All-Father') was a central and fairly complex figure within Viking and Norse culture/mythology. It is said he is a god of many domains, some of which include wisdom, war poetry and death. He is usually depicted with a large beard, one eye and being fairly elderly but never frail.

A key characteristic of Odin which is often spoke about is his desire and drive for knowledge. It's understood he sacrificed one eye to drink from Mimir's well (source of all wisdom) and hung himself from the world tree, Yggdrasil for nine days and nights whilst pierced with his own spear. It's said he did this to gain and understanding of the runes and their magical secrets.
